Olivet nursing accreditation: CCNE, HLC and the 2026 visit
Olivet Nazarene University's baccalaureate, master's and post-graduate APRN certificate nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the university itself by the Higher Learning Commission. CCNE's on-site reaccreditation visit, covering every nursing program and track, is set for October 7 to 9, 2026.

CCNE accreditation, program by program
Olivet's School of Nursing page and its Accreditations page both state that the baccalaureate, master's and post-graduate APRN certificate programs are accredited by CCNE. Olivet's consumer-information accreditation sheet, updated August 14, 2026, lists Nursing with CCNE and a status of Good Standing. The table maps each current program to the level Olivet's statement names.

The handbooks carry narrower versions of the same statement. The BSN handbook names only the baccalaureate program, and the MSN handbook names only the master's and post-graduate APRN certificate programs. Each is a slice of the web statement rather than a contradiction of it.
The October 7 to 9, 2026 reaccreditation visit
Olivet's School of Nursing page announces an on-site CCNE reaccreditation visit for October 7 to 9, 2026, covering all nursing programs and tracks. The same notice invited third-party comments, which were due to CCNE by September 16, 2026, so that window has closed.
Olivet's pages give no accreditation term, expiry date or decision date. After the visit, the School of Nursing page and the Accreditations page are the places to watch, and the consumer-information sheet shows the status Olivet reports.
For students in a clinical course, the rules you work to stay where they were: your handbook version, the Canvas Student Clinical or Practicum Requirements Course and your course faculty. A preceptor who asks about the visit can be given the dates and scope exactly as Olivet states them.

The Higher Learning Commission and state authorization
CCNE accredits the nursing programs; the Higher Learning Commission accredits Olivet Nazarene University as a whole. HLC looks at the university as an institution, while CCNE reviews the nursing programs themselves, so a complete description of your program mentions both.
State authorization is a separate layer. Olivet's accreditation sheet says the Illinois Board of Higher Education authorizes it to operate and offer degree programs in Illinois, and that it takes part in state authorization reciprocity through IBHE. The NC-SARA directory lists Olivet as a participant in the MHEC region, not on provisional status. IBHE is also where Olivet's student complaint policy points students who remain unsatisfied after Olivet's own process.
Where you may complete practicum hours is another question again, answered by Olivet's licensure disclosures rather than by any accreditor. The licensure disclosures guide covers it.
IDFPR and the Illinois license side
Olivet says its accredited nursing programs meet the quality standards of CCNE and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Olivet does not post a separate IDFPR program approval notice or approval date, so cite the wording as Olivet gives it.
IDFPR is where Olivet graduates meet the licensing process. The BSN handbook sends Traditional BSN graduates to IDFPR for the NCLEX-RN application. For nurse practitioners, IDFPR's APRN license calls for a graduate degree or post-master's certificate that qualifies for national certification, and for NPs IDFPR takes certification from any of five bodies: ANCC, AANPCB, AACN, PNCB or NCC. Olivet's FNP prepares students for the ANCC and AANPCB exams.

What preceptors and sites ask about your program
A practice weighing an Olivet student may ask for a short picture of the program before saying yes. Have these ready, in the words Olivet uses:
- The program's name as Olivet lists it, such as MSN: Family Nurse Practitioner or MSN: Nursing Education & Leadership.
- The course and its hours, for example

- That Olivet approves each preceptor and that faculty evaluate student outcomes, asking preceptors for input where they choose to.
- Your compliance status and the practice's own onboarding steps.
Some health systems ask a different question: whether the school holds an affiliation agreement with them. Riverside Healthcare in Kankakee and Northwestern Medicine's north and northwest region each say they accept NP students only when the school has such an agreement in place. Accreditation does not answer that, and Olivet's pages do not describe graduate affiliation agreements, so take it to the SON Clinical Coordinator. Questions Olivet students ask
Is Olivet's FNP program CCNE accredited?
Olivet's accreditation statement covers its master's programs and its post-graduate APRN certificate, which takes in both the MSN: Family Nurse Practitioner and the Post-Graduate APRN (FNP) Certificate. The October 2026 CCNE visit is a reaccreditation visit, meaning it reviews programs that already hold CCNE accreditation.
When does Olivet's CCNE accreditation expire?
Olivet's pages do not state an expiry date or accreditation term. Its consumer-information sheet, updated August 14, 2026, lists Nursing with CCNE in Good Standing, and the School of Nursing page announces the October 2026 visit. For a date, ask the School of Nursing rather than trusting a figure from another website.
Can I still send CCNE a comment about Olivet's nursing programs?
Not through the window Olivet announced. Its notice set September 16, 2026 as the date third-party comments were due to CCNE, ahead of the October 7 to 9 visit. Concerns about your own program are best raised with your course faculty or program director through Olivet email.
Does accreditation mean a health system has to accept me?
No. Accreditation describes the program's standing, while each health system decides which students it hosts. Some Illinois systems place NP students only from schools holding an affiliation agreement with them, and others take requests through their own applications. Ask the SON Clinical Coordinator about agreements, and keep more than one site in play.
Is the Post-Bachelor's NEL certificate accredited?
Olivet's CCNE statement names baccalaureate, master's and post-graduate APRN certificate programs, and the NEL certificate is not named on its own. Its courses stack into the MSN, which the statement covers at the master's level. For wording you can give an employer or preceptor, ask the Online Advising Team.
