Contact the placement desk
Use the message form to tell us about your Olivet Nazarene University clinical course, or open the chat on any page. The more specific the note, the quicker a placement advisor can match you, so include your track, the NRSG course, where you live, when the course starts and how many hours you still need.
Message the placement desk
Your Olivet track, NRSG course, city and state, start date and the hours you still need.

What to include in your message
Five details let a placement advisor start matching without a round of follow-up questions.
- Your track and curriculum. MSN-FNP, Post-Graduate APRN (FNP), MSN-NEL, Post-Bachelor's NEL or RN-BSN, plus new or current curriculum if you know it, since the course numbers differ between the two.
- The NRSG course. For example
NRSG 636CAdult and Older Adult Primary Care Clinical orNRSG 620. The course decides the patient population and the hour total. - City and state. We search in your own area, and for FNP students the state has to be one Olivet approves.
- Start date. The first day of the course, or "already started" with the end date.
- Hours still needed. For a course under way, the hours logged so far and the hours left.
Helpful extras: the kind of practice you hope for, days that clash with your RN shifts, and whether a preceptor has already said yes and only needs the approval paperwork.
What happens next
- A placement advisor reads your noteWe check your course, hours and location against Olivet's rules, including the approved-state list for FNP hours.
- You get a planThe reply covers preceptor options near you that fit the course, what Olivet's approval will need from them, and how the timing lines up with your start date.
- We confirm the preceptorOnce you choose, we confirm the preceptor's availability for your course dates and assemble the credentials, license and site details for Olivet's approval.
- Olivet reviews and approvesEvery preceptor is Olivet's to approve. We make sure the file is complete and meets Olivet's rules at first submission, and we set your compliance dates, including the drug screen window, against the start.
- We stay on callIf anything changes with your preceptor or site during the course, message us and we move straight to a replacement.
The full service is set out on how it works, and cost explains what shapes a quote.
If your course has already started
Put that at the top of your message, with the course end date and the hours still owed. A mid-course request is a different search: we look for a preceptor with room for the weeks that are left rather than a full course, and we plan the pace with you so the hours fit before the last day. Tell us whether your current preceptor can keep some of the remaining days, since that changes the kind of preceptor we look for.
If your preceptor has left, preceptor dropped out lists what to do in the first two days. If you are short on hours, behind on clinical hours explains Olivet's X grade and Incomplete rules and the week-7 cutoff for asking for an Incomplete.
Questions that belong with Olivet
Some answers can only come from Olivet, and sending them to the right place first saves you days. These are the contacts Olivet's own handbooks and disclosures name:
| Question | Where Olivet directs it |
|---|---|
| Preceptor approval, placement help, a license that becomes encumbered | The SON Clinical Coordinator; the MSN handbooks name GraduateNursing@olivet.edu |
| FNP practicum states, including Kansas's added requirements | FNPpracticum@olivet.edu |
| An address change, a leave of absence or a return date | The Online Advising Team, onlineadvising@olivet.edu |
| Practicum requirements and preceptor criteria | Your track's Student Clinical or Practicum Requirements Course in Canvas |
| Grades, an Incomplete or the X grade | Your course faculty, with the Program Director |
| RN-BSN preceptor paperwork, core started before August 2026 | bsnpracticum@olivet.edu |
The who does what page explains each of these roles.
Preceptors and other messages
If you are a nurse practitioner, nurse educator or nurse leader who would like to precept Olivet students, choose "I'm a preceptor (not a student)" in the form and tell us your specialty, your city and state, and the months you could take a student. The precept an Olivet student page describes the role. Practices and nursing programs that want to host Olivet students can use the same route: name the site, the settings you offer and who handles student requests.
Anything else, from a question about a quote to a question about the service, reaches the same placement desk through this form. Keep your note to what a placement needs; a placement advisor will ask for anything more only when a site or Olivet's approval calls for it.
Questions Olivet students ask
Do I need to know my curriculum before I write?
No. If you are unsure whether you are in Olivet's new or current curriculum, give us your start term and the next course on your plan, and we work from that. Your advisor can confirm it, and it matters because FNP clinical course numbers and the compliance vendor differ between the two.
Can I contact you before I have tried my own network?
Yes. Olivet encourages students to start with their personal and professional networks, and you can talk to us at the same time. Students who plan early have the widest choice of preceptors and the most room for Olivet's approval and the compliance timeline.
Is the chat the same as the form?
Both reach the placement desk. The chat suits a quick question, such as whether a state is approved for FNP hours or which clinical comes next. The form suits a placement request, because it keeps your track, course, location and dates together in one message.
Can I send one message for a classmate and me?
Each placement is built around one student's course, location and dates, so ask each classmate to write separately. If two of you are in the same course in the same area, mention it in both messages. Olivet does not publish a rule on how many students one preceptor may take.
What if Olivet's rules change after I contact you?
Olivet does revise its handbooks, as with the NRSG 665E and NRSG 665F hour increases in October 2026 and January 2027. We plan against the handbook version that applies to you, and your faculty and the SON Clinical Coordinator have the final say on any rule.
