Olivet clinicals in New Jersey
New Jersey is approved for Olivet Nazarene University FNP practicum hours. The trap is geography: both of the state's giant metros spill across the Hudson and the Delaware into New York and Pennsylvania, and Olivet's FNP list closes both of those states.

New Jersey yes, New York and Pennsylvania no
Roughly 7.1 million New Jerseyans live in the New York-Newark-Jersey City area, and the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington area claims another 1.4 million or so. For many of them the nearest big practice is across a river. New York and Pennsylvania both appear on Olivet's Not Approved list, and Olivet's rule is that FNP practicum hours may not happen in those states whatever state the student calls home.
So keep every FNP site on the Jersey side, or in Delaware, which Olivet approves. Commuters feel this most: if your day job is in Manhattan or Center City Philadelphia, that employer cannot host your FNP hours. Anyone weighing a move across either river should read moving during your program before signing a lease.
The New Jersey rows in Olivet's disclosures
FNP students in Newark, Trenton or Atlantic City can train at home. The FNP file does not mention the Post-Graduate APRN (FNP) certificate by name, and Olivet's NEL pages insist on an approved state yet publish no list of them, so students in those tracks confirm New Jersey with the SON Clinical Coordinator.

Joint protocols, and what the board's rules cover
AANP scores New Jersey as reduced practice. Before a New Jersey NP orders medications or devices, a joint protocol with a collaborating physician has to be in place. The protocol is a matter between the NP and that physician; whether the NP suits your course is decided in Olivet's preceptor approval, guided by your Canvas requirements course.
New Jersey's nursing regulations in N.J.A.C. 13:37 accredit programs run by institutions that hold New Jersey higher-education licenses, and their clinical-agency section, 13:37-1.10(c), looks outward, at New Jersey schools using clinical agencies beyond the state. The reverse case, a school from elsewhere placing students in New Jersey, gets no separate approval step in that text. If a site raises the question anyway, route it to the SON Clinical Coordinator.
From Hackensack to Camden: where students look
A New Jersey search turns up Atlantic Health System and Virtua Health, Cooper University Health Care in Camden, and the two giants, RWJBarnabas Health and Hackensack Meridian Health. Students in the Trenton-Princeton or Atlantic City-Hammonton metros, each under 400,000 people, can often stay closer to home. Each system publishes its own student terms.
The nurse compact went live here on November 15, 2021. Since then, your New Jersey multistate license has worked in Delaware and the rest of the member states, and theirs have worked in New Jersey. The APRN Compact has no New Jersey enactment.

Is New Jersey approved for Olivet's FNP program?
Yes. Olivet's FNP disclosure of March 12, 2026 includes New Jersey in its approved group, so FNP students who live in the state can complete practicum hours there. On the undergraduate side, Olivet's 2024 BSN review marks New Jersey as met.
I live in Jersey City and work in Manhattan. Can I do clinicals at my job?
Not for your FNP. Because New York is on Olivet's Not Approved list, FNP hours at a Manhattan site do not count, regardless of your New Jersey address. Look for a preceptor on the Jersey side of the Hudson instead.
Does a New Jersey NP need a physician to precept me?
No physician has to join your preceptorship. What New Jersey requires is a joint protocol between the NP and a collaborating physician covering medication and device orders. Whether the NP fits your Olivet course is judged when Olivet approves the preceptor, measured against the requirements Olivet posts in Canvas for your track.
Can I do clinicals in Delaware from South Jersey?
Yes, as far as Olivet's list goes, since Delaware is approved for FNP hours. With both states in the compact, the multistate license you hold from New Jersey is good for Delaware practice. Pennsylvania, just over the Delaware River from Camden, is the state to avoid.
