Olivet's disclosure results for Wisconsin
Olivet's March 2026 FNP file lists Wisconsin as approved, and Olivet's BSN review from 2024 rates it met. That settles Olivet's side. Wisconsin's board runs its own approval for programs from other states, so being on Olivet's list and holding Wisconsin board approval are separate questions. Students in the NEL tracks, the RN-BSN or the Post-Graduate APRN (FNP) certificate, none of which the FNP file names, confirm their track with the SON Clinical Coordinator.

The Wisconsin board's rule for schools from other states
The rule sits in Wis. Admin. Code N 1.06, and Wisconsin's licensing agency, DSPS, explains it on Form 3067-OEE (April 2026 revision). A nursing school located outside Wisconsin needs the board's approval, and that reaches every level a school might offer, from practical nursing through associate and bachelor's RN programs (post-licensure bachelor's among them) to graduate study. Continued approval depends on a periodic self-evaluation report, Form 3069OEE.
Olivet's disclosure file does not address Wisconsin board approval. Before you approach a Wisconsin preceptor, ask the SON Clinical Coordinator how Olivet stands with the board; Olivet's disclosure also names FNPpracticum@olivet.edu for out-of-state FNP questions. The form also speaks to people: anyone precepting or teaching at a Wisconsin site must be able to practice nursing in Wisconsin, through its own license or a recognized privilege.
Act 17 and Wisconsin's new APRN license
Since September 1, 2026, Wisconsin licenses its advanced practice nurses under 2025 Wisconsin Act 17. Every license now reads APRN plus a role: NP, CNM, CNS or CRNA. APNP, Wisconsin's former prescriber credential, was converted to APRN. AANP still lists Wisconsin as reduced practice, since an NP there practices in collaboration with a physician. Practicing independently takes its own application and a yes from the board.
During your search you may see both titles. A preceptor's older paperwork can say APNP while new documents say APRN, and both describe a licensed Wisconsin NP. Whether that NP fits your course is settled in Olivet's approval, guided by the requirements in your Canvas course.
Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay and Appleton
Milwaukee-Waukesha leads Wisconsin's metros with roughly 1.58 million residents; Madison has around 710,000, and Green Bay and Appleton follow. For health systems, look at the student pages of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Aurora Health Care (an Advocate Health system), UW Health, Aspirus Health and Ascension Wisconsin; each sets its own rotation terms.
Wisconsin nurses have held compact licenses since January 2018, and a Wisconsin multistate license lets you train in Iowa or any other compact state. Illinois sits outside the compact, which means a southern Wisconsin student who takes an Illinois preceptor needs an Illinois RN license. Wisconsin is not an APRN Compact state. Is Wisconsin approved for Olivet FNP clinicals?
Yes. Olivet's disclosure dated March 12, 2026 counts Wisconsin among its approved states. Because Wisconsin's board separately approves nursing schools from other states under N 1.06, check with the SON Clinical Coordinator that nothing else stands between you and your first Wisconsin clinical day.
What is an APNP, and can one precept me?
APNP was Wisconsin's former advanced practice nurse prescriber license, and Act 17 converted those licenses to APRN as of September 1, 2026. A preceptor holding either title is a licensed Wisconsin NP. Whether they meet Olivet's criteria is decided in Olivet's approval, using the requirements in your track's Canvas course.
Can I train in Illinois while living in Wisconsin?
Illinois is approved for Olivet FNP hours, yet it remains outside the compact, so your Wisconsin multistate license does not cover practice there and an Illinois site needs an Illinois RN license. Does Wisconsin's approval rule cover the RN-BSN?
Form 3067-OEE lists post-licensure bachelor's programs among those that need board approval when the school is based in another state. Because Olivet has out-of-state RN-BSN students do their practicum hours at home, a Wisconsin RN-BSN student should ask Olivet how it handles Wisconsin before the first practicum course begins.
