NRSG 665A to 665F: Olivet's six current-curriculum FNP clinicals
Olivet Nazarene University's Current Curriculum handbook, revised 8/31/26, puts continuing FNP students' clinical hours in six courses, NRSG 665A to NRSG 665F, each paired with a therapeutics and management course. Four carry 125 hours; NRSG 665E and NRSG 665F move from 120 to 125 in October 2026 and January 2027, which brings the series to 750.

The six clinicals and their paired courses
Every current-curriculum clinical carries the NRSG 665 number with its own letter and is taken alongside one didactic course. The table follows the handbook's order.

Adult and geriatric patients anchor three of the six pairs, moving from acute and episodic visits to chronic conditions and then complex cases. Women's health and pediatrics each get a pair of their own before meeting again in the final complex clinical. New-curriculum students follow a four-course design instead, laid out on the curriculum comparison page.
The 665E and 665F hour increases
The handbook sets NRSG 665E at 120 hours, rising to 125 effective October 2026, and NRSG 665F at 120 hours, rising to 125 effective January 2027. At the old figures the six clinicals add to 740 hours; with both increases they add to 750, the total Olivet's FNP pages state.
The handbook does not spell out how the change applies to a section already running, or to a student who finished NRSG 665E at 120 hours. If either course falls near its change date for you, ask your advisor which hour count your section carries and whether your program total is affected, and keep the reply in writing.
Ask your 665E and 665F preceptors to hold 125 hours of availability unless your advisor confirms a lower figure for your section.
Before NRSG 665A: the path in
In the current curriculum, the clinicals follow NRSG 627 APRN Role Development, NRSG 653, NRSG 626, NRSG 628, NRSG 679 and NRSG 680, then three paired 3P sequences: NRSG 675 and NRSG 676 Advanced Pharmacology I and II, NRSG 677 and NRSG 678 Advanced Health Assessment I and II, and NRSG 673 and NRSG 674 Advanced Pathophysiology I and II.
Two tasks come early. Current-curriculum students enroll themselves in the Canvas requirements course before NRSG 627, and the handbook wants the 2,000 RN hours in place before any NRSG 665 course, no later than the close of NRSG 681; the RN hours rule covers it.
For Post-Graduate APRN students, this handbook stars the courses they need, starting at NRSG 627, and requires the 3P courses only for those without a pass in the last five years.
Compliance, logging and grading in the 665 series
The current handbook routes compliance through CastleBranch, background check included, rather than the new curriculum's Verified Credentials QualifiedFirst. The item list and its timing rules are gathered in the compliance guide.
Hours and competencies are logged in Project Concert, which the fee sheet assigns to FNP students for competencies and encounter records alike. That fee sheet's exam entries also use this curriculum's numbering, from NRSG 667 to NRSG 671 and the 3P pairs.
On grading, the New Curriculum handbook states the Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory rule for FNP clinicals and the 83% average on graded work, and its grading footnote still names NRSG 665A to NRSG 665F. Confirm the grading terms for your own section in the current handbook and the syllabus before the course opens.
Six preceptor matches across the series
Six clinicals mean up to six preceptor matches, each fitted to the population of its paired course.

Whether a single preceptor can serve two of these courses, and which settings count for each, is left to the syllabus and the requirements course. Olivet approves every preceptor, and FNP hours must stay inside the approved states listed in the licensure disclosures.
After 665F: NRSG 685 and NRSG 686
NRSG 685 FNP Immersion follows the six clinicals in the current curriculum; it corresponds to the new curriculum's NRSG 688, and an immersion lab fee on Olivet's fee sheet points to an in-person component. The FNP Immersion guide gathers what Olivet publishes about it.
The handbook adds NRSG 686 Virtual Clinical as an optional course. Its hours and purpose are not described on Olivet's public pages, so ask your advisor what it involves before you register.
Because the immersion comes after the last clinical, the date your NRSG 665F hours are finished shapes when you can attend it. Plan the two together with your advisor.

Questions Olivet students ask
Do current-curriculum PG-APRN students take all six NRSG 665 clinicals?
Certificate students follow the starred courses in the current handbook from NRSG 627 on, and the certificate web page lists 750 clinical hours. Check the asterisks in your handbook's course list, and confirm your clinical sequence with the Online Advising Team before you start recruiting preceptors.
Can one preceptor cover several NRSG 665 courses?
Olivet's public pages do not address it. Each clinical is paired with a course on a particular population, so a preceptor has to see the patients that course calls for, and Olivet approves each preceptor. A broad family practice may fit more than one course, so ask your course faculty before you plan around it.
What happens if I fail an NRSG 665 clinical?
Olivet's New Curriculum handbook sets the rule for population-focused FNP courses: retake the failed course and audit its paired course, where the audit may send you back through up to 50% of the clinical hours. Because the current handbook governs your courses, confirm how that rule applies to the 665 series with your program director.
Can NRSG 686 Virtual Clinical replace one of the six clinicals?
Olivet lists NRSG 686 as an elective, and nothing on its public pages presents it as a substitute for any NRSG 665 course, and its program pages count FNP hours in clinical courses with an approved preceptor. Ask your advisor what the elective covers and whether it bears on your hours before you register.
Is the NRSG 665 series ending?
Olivet runs the 665 series for continuing students under the Current Curriculum handbook, while new starts follow the four-course NRSG 636C to NRSG 639C sequence. Olivet's pages give no end date for the older series, so if you are planning a leave, ask your advisor how your remaining 665 courses will be offered when you return.
