NRSG 639C: 240 hours of primary care across the lifespan
Olivet Nazarene University's NRSG 639C Primary Care Across the Lifespan Clinical is the fourth and last new-curriculum FNP clinical, 240 hours taken with NRSG 639 Primary Care Across the Lifespan. Only NRSG 688 FNP Immersion follows it in the sample schedule, so this is the preceptor who stands between you and graduation.

NRSG 639C in Olivet's handbook
The New Curriculum handbook lists NRSG 639C Primary Care Across the Lifespan Clinical at 240 clinical hours, paired with NRSG 639. It ties with NRSG 636C as the largest FNP clinical, and once its hours are logged your total reaches 750. The sample schedule then closes with NRSG 688 FNP Immersion.
Its grade is Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory, with the same two conditions as every FNP clinical: 83% or better across graded work, and satisfactory ratings on every logged hour. Anything more specific, including the age mix the course expects and how it is documented, is set in the syllabus and your track's requirements course in Canvas.

A preceptor who sees every age
The course title calls for patients across the lifespan, which points toward a primary care practice that sees children, adults and older adults; the syllabus confirms the mix it expects. Olivet approves the preceptor and keeps its detailed criteria in the requirements course, so compare the clinic's patient range with the syllabus before asking for a commitment. Your earlier clinicals can be a starting point. A family practice that hosted your adult or pediatric hours may see the full range, but Olivet does not say whether a preceptor may host you twice, so ask faculty before you count on a return visit.
Scheduling is the other half of fit. 240 hours is a long commitment at the end of a program, and it has to land inside one course window, so confirm the preceptor's availability for the whole stretch, including holidays and planned time off.
The last clinical and your graduation date
Late hours in NRSG 639C push everything behind them. Every clinical assignment for the course closes at 11:59 p.m. CST on its final day, and a pass needs the full 240 hours documented. Olivet holds MSN commencement only in May, and certificate completers are not part of the ceremony, so an MSN student who slips past the spring timeline may wait for the next May ceremony.
Timing also reaches back to earlier courses. The handbook permits an audit of any clinical finished over two years before your program ends, so a long pause before NRSG 639C can reopen NRSG 636C. A leave means filing the Return Form at least two weeks before clinical courses resume; leave and delays and delayed graduation cover the rest.
After NRSG 639C: immersion, boards and licensure
NRSG 688 FNP Immersion follows in the sample schedule. The fee sheet carries a lab fee for the immersion, while where it is held and how long it lasts are not stated publicly; the FNP Immersion guide collects what Olivet does publish.
Certification comes next. Olivet's FNP is built to prepare you for the ANCC and/or AANPCB national exam, and the new handbook lists Fitzgerald Health's Amplify platform, with its 3P competency exam, among the program's resources.
If you will apply for APRN licensure outside Illinois, read that state's board rules now. Olivet's disclosure cautions that a licensing state may attach its own hour, preceptor or paperwork conditions, and the final clinical is your last chance to meet them inside the program. Current-curriculum students finish with NRSG 665F
The current curriculum has no NRSG 639C, and its sequence ends differently. Its last clinical is NRSG 665F, paired with NRSG 672, the complex pediatric and women's health course, at 120 hours until January 2027 and 125 after. NRSG 685 FNP Immersion follows, with NRSG 686 Virtual Clinical available as an elective.
So the final current-curriculum clinical calls for complex pediatric and women's health patients rather than the whole lifespan, a different preceptor profile from the one described above. A student who reaches NRSG 665F before January 2027 should ask the advisor whether that section carries 120 or 125 hours, and ask the preceptor for enough time to cover the higher figure.
Closing out your hours with the right preceptor
We treat the final clinical as the one with no slack. A confirmed lifespan preceptor also gives you a firm finish date for your hours. With that date in hand you can plan NRSG 688, your certification study and any licensure paperwork around it instead of guessing.

Questions Olivet students ask
Is NRSG 639C the last clinical course in Olivet's FNP program?
In the new curriculum, yes: it is the fourth of four clinicals, and only NRSG 688 FNP Immersion follows it in the sample schedule. In the current curriculum the last clinical is NRSG 665F, followed by NRSG 685. Either way, your 750 clinical hours are complete once the final clinical's hours are documented.
What if my NRSG 639C hours are not finished by the last course day?
To pass, every hour has to be rated satisfactory by the course's final deadline. The handbook's X-grade extension is written for the NEL practicum NRSG 620, so talk with your course faculty early about any option for an FNP clinical. The behind on hours page covers recovery steps.
What if I move before NRSG 639C?
Tell the Online Advising Team about the address change while you are in the FNP track, and make sure your new area sits in one of Olivet's approved states, since hours may not be done in the 13 listed states. Read the new state's board rules too, because some states add their own requirements for APRN licensure.
Does FNP Immersion have to wait until after NRSG 639C?
In the sample schedule, NRSG 688 comes after NRSG 639C, and Olivet publishes sample course orders only. Whether your immersion can move is a question for your advisor. An Olivet video from 2021 described set immersion days in March and April with limited spots, so check the current dates well ahead.
Do I need to renew BLS before NRSG 639C?
Only if your card will lapse before the course ends. Olivet requires an AHA BLS card earned in person, not online, and valid through the whole practicum. Check the expiry date against the last day of NRSG 639C rather than its first, and renew ahead of the course if the dates collide.
